Welcome to FIFI

I suppose the best way to welcome you to my blog is to introduce myself - hi, my name is Robyn and I am a young professional working in the hussle and bussle of JHB. FIFI is my passion project used to explore the creative corners of my mind.

FIFI was intially created in 2019, during my first year of university, to serve as a creative outelt and a happy distraction from feeling hopelessly homesick. The origin of the name "FIFI" stems from a core childhood memory, wathcing "Fifi and the Flower Pots" in the morning before school. "FIFI" has followed me throughout my life, both as the name of my first car and then my first blog and I suppose, if you consider that "FIF" is a mirror immage of the letters "F" nad "I", then it seems to be a rather ampt name.

A mirror image symbolises introspection, self-awareness and the duality of human nature. My blog, "FIFI" was reborn because of a deep knowing of self and the need to fuel the creative side of my personality and my passion for food - whether that be exploring restaurants or experimenting in the kitchen.

So, what can you expect from my blog.... You can expect a mixture of restaurant / cafe recommendations and reviews, as well as some home recipes for you to try. Enjoying and creating foodie experiences is a love language, which I learnt from the women in my family. The kitchen was a place where memories were made and stories were shared and I love nothing more than creating memories with my food. Food brings people together and takes you on a magical journey as flavour burst and dance on your tastebuds.
